Quick Tales - an update

We want to thank all of you for the great response to the contest. We got a total of 1052 valid entries!

As you read this, Annie, Manisha and I are busy reading and rating those entries, and we hope to be done and ready with a short list by around the 25th September. After that, our jury steps in to rate the short list and come up with a set of finalists, and then the winners.

But that's not all.

We want you, the members of this community, to have a voice too. So, once the judges are through with the ratings, and before the results are announced, the LJ team will post the short-listed stories to this community to let members vote for their favourites. The top-rated story will receive a special People's Choice Prize, of a permanent LJ account (when they next become available).

Now, I have to get back to judging, to make sure you folks get the results as soon as humanly possible. Good luck, all of you!

Peter Griffin

India Writing is now all yours

As I said in my previous post, it will take us a while to have the results of the Quick Tales contest ready.

But y'all don't have to sit on your hands until we're done.

This community is now all yours. LiveJournal intends it become a new home on the web for great India writing. And it's up to you folks, as founder members, to set the pace.

So, please post your original writing—any style, any genre—to the community for comments and feedback. And remember, do as you would have done to you: if you want comments on your work, set an example by commenting on writing by other members.

Don't stop at that. Go visit the pages of the other members of this community (you can find them by visiting the community's Profile page, and scrolling down to the "Members" section) and say hello, get to know each other, become friends, and all that good stuff that you do in a community.

Have fun, and keep writing!
